Annan, Levy meet on south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel-UN, Politics, 4/5/2000
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan arrived on Tuesday in Geneva, where he will meet with Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy to discuss with him the role played by the UN in south Lebanon.
AFP quoted a spokesman for the UN, Jamal Bin Yahmad, as saying that the UN chief will hold before his meeting with Levy a coordinating meeting with the official in charge of the peacekeeping operations in south Lebanon, Bernard Meieh, and the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process.
The UN deploys a 4,500-man force in south Lebanon to monitor Israel's implementation of UN resolution 425 of 1978, which provides for Israel's unconditional withdrawal from south Lebanon.
