Morocco-Spain, Military, 4/4/2000

The chief of staff of the Spanish navy, Admiral Antonio Moreno Barbera, met in Rabat Monday with several Moroccan officials on issues of mutual concern.

Admiral Barbera who started Sunday an official visit to Morocco --to last till April 6-- conferred with Abderrahmane Sbai, minister delegate in charge of national defense administration, General Abdelaziz Bennani and Colonel-Major Mohamed Triki, Inspector of the Moroccan Royal Navy.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over such visits that provide opportunity to trade experience and exchange viewpoints on navy-related matters.

Admiral Barbera had earlier said his visit is meant to upgrade military cooperation between the two countries and consolidate bilateral relations.

Cooperation between the two countries' navies will be at the focus of talks with top ranking officers of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), Admiral Barbera said.
