Youssoufi congratulates Niger, hails Cairo summit
Regional, Politics, 4/4/2000

First Secretary of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces "USFP" Abderrahmane Youssoufi addressed a message of congratulations to Niger's National Democracy and Socialist Party (PNDS) third congress in which he highlighted the Moroccan democratic experiment and hailed the Cairo Summit.

The message also hailed the wisdom of African and European heads of state and government who saw to it that only sovereign states participate in the summit works and barred the way to illegitimate entities such as the self-proclaimed Sahrawi republic.

Youssoufi recalled democratic reforms incepted by the late king Hassan II and carried on under king Mohammed VI in Morocco and said what has taken place in the kingdom, Senegal, Benin and South-Africa is a model for democratic transition in the continent.

Several foreign political parties attended the PNDS third congress which is an active member with USFP within the Socialist International.
