Moussa - Cook meeting tackles a number of issues

Foreign Minister Amr Moussa conferred late Sunday with British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, currently in Cairo for participation in the Africa-Europe summit.
Emerging from the meeting, Cook voiced satisfaction with bridging Afro - European differences over the two final documents of the summit.
He added that there are several important issues that should be addressed, namely, the ultimate utilization of African resources, trade partnership and solving African conflicts.
Cook underlined the need for a political dialogue in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation .
Cook lauded Egypt's excellent preparations for the summit and voiced hope the summit would bring closer the African and European continents.
The top British diplomat said talks with Moussa took up a number of issues, foremost among which is the Middle East peace.
He regretted the current dead lock on the Syrian track, urging friendly nations to work for the resumption of Syrian -Israeli negotiations.
On the Palestinian track, Cook called for exerting efforts to back the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations adding that Europe is mulling possible contributions to facilitate hammering out a peace settlement.
Meanwhile, Cook said that the European and African sides, to take part in the Africa-Europe summit managed to reach an agreement on the draft communique's item.
The draft communique will be presented to the summit for endorsement, Cook added.
In statements made on the fringe of Foreign Ministers meetings, Cook said that we congratulate Egypt for the tireless efforts it exerts to render the Africa -Europe summit a success.
