Baz: Africa-Europe Summit boosts development in Africa
Egypt, Politics, 4/3/2000

Presidential Political Advisor Osama Al-Baz affirmed that the Africa-Europe Summit would declare a plane of action with specific steps aiming to support Africa's economy. In an exclusive interview with "Al-Ahram" daily, Baz expounded that such plan of action covers many pivots to help African countries attract foreign investments and transfer sophisticated technology. The summit, added Baz, calls on the international community to reduce foreign debts and to increase African share in international trade.

He described the summit as highly important; expounding that such summit is the first of its kind that gathers all African countries together with 15 European countries. Baz said that the summit gains special importance as President Hosni Mubarak is to meet with all European leaders participating in the summit.

He added that Mubarak would meet King Mohamed VI of Morocco, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and President Omar Al-Bashir of Sudan, voicing hope that positive steps would be taken at the level of Egyptian-Sudanese relations.
