Road accidents kill one person every three hours
Morocco, Economics, 4/3/2000
Road accidents kill one person every three hours in Morocco, Moroccan activist and former health minister, Abderrahim Harrouchi, said.
"95% of accidents cannot be imputed to vehicles state nor to that of the road network," Harrouchi, who chairs Afak association, told a meeting held in Fez (central Morocco) part of an ongoing road accident prevention campaign.
According to official statistics, road accidents claim up to 3,000 lives annually in Morocco.
Harrouchi deplored that in Casablanca, Morocco's largest city, 40 % of the inhabitants developed the bad habit not to abide by the traffic code.
