Mediterranean journalists call for promotion of women's role in media

A five-day training session for women journalists in the Mediterranean region held in Rabat last week called for projects for the creation of information means taking into account the role of women on Arab local and national levels and responding to their aspirations in this field.

Participants stressed the need to promote the role of women in the media, to overstep the traditional forms of feminine information and to propose alternatives to match the changes that the Arab states is undergoing in different fields.

A score of women journalists from Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Italy and Morocco took part in this session which debated "key economic mechanisms of press enterprises," "new technologies and management of press enterprises."

Three workshops on projects for the creation of a daily, women magazine and an audio-visual enterprise were also on the agenda.
