Bahrain to open its embassy in Iraq
Bahrain-Iraq, Politics, 4/3/2000

Bahrain's foreign ministry said on Saturday that Manama will reopen its embassy in Iraq which has been closed since 1990, saying that the reasons behind this decision are humanitarian.

Bahrain's news agency quoted an official at the foreign ministry as saying that diplomatic relations between Iraq and Bahrain have not been severed, that diplomatic representation between the two states continued and that the embassy did not stop carrying out its duties at the level of the charge de affaires.

The Bahraini official added the Bahraini embassy's resumption of its works in Baghdad, marked by the arrival of the consultant at the ministry, Hassan al-Ansari, in Baghdad on Thursday to take necessary administrative measures to reopen the embassy came for mere humanitarian reasons, adding that on top of these is to supervise the interests of the Bahraini citizens who visit Iraq, especially those who visit the holy shrines there.
