Tunisian human rights activists suspend hunger strike
Tunisia, Politics, 4/1/2000
Two Tunisian female human right activists have suspended a hunger strike they started 24 hours earlier, in protest against the seizure of their passports by the Tunis government.
The Tunisian Association of Women Democrats said the two, Siheme Ben Serine and Fatma Ksila, started the hunger strike at the association's office Tuesday.
They called it off Thursday following the intervention of the president of the Tunisian Human Rights League, Taoufik Bouderbala, at the interior ministry.
Bouderbala promised to retrieve the passports from the ministry and return them to the women.
