Democracy, an end and means to reform institutions, youssoufi says
Morocco, Politics, 4/1/2000
The first secretary of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces "USFP" Abderrahmane Youssoufi said friday that achieving democracy remains an end and a means to reform institutions.
Addressing the plenary meeting of the 4th National Congress of the Democratic and Popular Action Organization "OADP," he said building up democracy was at the origin of the democratic block and remains his motto to carry our institutional reforms, balance powers and make them serve the nation.
Youssoufi underscored the vision of the late king Hassan II and support of King Mohammed VI to the alternation experiment and the king's untiring action to consolidate democracy, unity, stability and upgrade living standards.
The democratic block, he said, has now to meet commitments in the government statement and complete the building up of the rule of law.
