The opposition Sudanese National Democratic Alliance which attacked areas in Kasla and Hamshkoreeb negated any assault on civilian targets.
The Sudanese mass media tackled the news of an assault on the airport of Kasla city in north Sudan with low interest and published news depicting the accident as being a limited sabotage operation against the airport's tower as a desperate attempt by the rebels.
Defense minister Abd al-Rahman Sirr al-Khatim and minister of interior Abdul Rahim Mohamed Hussein visited Kasla and Red Sea states and convened with political and military executive leaders where Sirr al-Khatim said that "the battle of liberating Hamshkoreeb area is a battle between right and wrong and that the aggressors will be expelled."
