Islamic conference regrets Yemen's new step in normalizing relations with Israel
Yemen-Israel, Politics, 4/1/2000

The Islamic conference has expressed its regret for Yemen's joining the march of normalization with Israel, noting that Yemen has been known through all its history of its solid Arab and Islamic stances which reject provocation and blackmail.

In a statement circulated in Beirut on Friday, the conference said that what is strange is that the visit of the group of Israelis to Yemen coincided with the visit of a high ranking Yemeni delegation to the USA, thus linking the success of a visiting Yemeni delegation to the White House to the success of the visit of the Israeli group to Yemen.

The Islamic National Conference expressed regret for the visit and hoped that what had happened was just a mistake whose results were miscalculated and will not be repeated and that what had been stated by the Yemeni President on his country' s firm stand against normalization as long as Arab rights are usurped, would be Yemen's unwavering policy.
