China's president to visit the Middle East, South Africa

The spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Chinese President Jiang Zemin will start a visit on April 12 to six states in the Middle East and South Africa.
AFP quoted the spokesman as saying the president will visit Egypt, Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Turkey, Greece and South Africa in order to promote bilateral exchange on highest levels and to develop bilateral relations.
The spokesman continued that President Zemin will exchange viewpoints in depth with the officials in the Middle East, especially on the Middle East, and will explain his country's position and proposals towards this matter.
