Algeria-International, Politics, 3/30/2000

Algeria invited human rights organizations, among which is the Amnesty International organization, to visit Algeria to examine the real facts in an attempt to learn more about situation of human rights in Algeria on April 12 to be followed by other non-governmental organizations.

Sources in Amnesty International in Cairo welcomed this invitation, saying this is the first time it has been asked to visit Algeria and that the organization is forming a visiting delegation and its agenda in Algeria.

The sources added that the visits is considered a chance for consultations with Algerian officials for the organization which stopped visiting Algeria since 1996 and to meet with non-governmental organizations to see what is going on in Algeria.
