Morocco-USA, Politics, 3/30/2000
Moroccan Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Mohammed Benaissa met on Wednesday with members of the US - Mideast Project Council.
The two sides exchanged views on development projects planned in the Middle-East to consolidate peace prospects in the region.
Benaissa renewed on the occasion Morocco's commitment to the cause of peace in the Middle East and recalled the pioneering role the kingdom has always played to promote dialogue between the countries of the region.
He voiced Morocco's concern over the obstacles hampering the peace process and stressed Rabat's attachment to a real and global peace in the region, based on dignity for all.
The delegation also conferred with the Moroccan minister in charge of the government's general affairs.
The USA-Mideast Project of the US Council on Foreign Relations seeks to set up alliances between the public and private sectors to consolidate the peace process through carrying out economic projects.
The international governing board of the council is co-chaired by Osama Al-Baz and Robert Lifton. Saudi Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz is the council's honorary president.
