Meeting of trilateral committee concerning disputed Gulf islands next month

Omani Foreign Minister Yusef Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah said following his return yesterday from the United Arab Emirates that the trilateral Gulf committee that was formed to solve the issue of the three Gulf islands claimed by both the UAE and Iran-- Abu Mousa, Lesser and Greater Tunb-- will convene in the coming month to discuss the plan ratified by the committee and to exchange opinions concerning it.
Alawi said he will take the necessary procedures to ratify the border agreements between Oman and the UAE to declare it fully, adding that the agreement to draw up the borders that was ratified with UAE in May 1999 was put in the Arab League and the United Nations.
