German delegation in Morocco
Morocco-Germany, Politics, 3/29/2000
A German delegation is currently visiting Morocco to sign two cooperation accords worth some $42 million.
The amount will finance water supply to several Moroccan villages.
The delegation will also identify cooperation projects to be carried out over the 2000-2002 period and prepare for the coming meeting of the joint commission.
Germany grants Morocco $40 million a year, either as assistance or as loans at advantageous conditions. The amount mainly goes to drinking water supply and sanitation projects.
On Tuesday, the delegation, including the head of the Maghreb department at KFW-- the agency in charge of carrying out German cooperation projects-- and a delegate of the German Federal Ministry of Cooperation, held a meeting with Moroccan Minister of the Interior Ahmed Midaoui.
A special focus was laid on cooperation in matters of decentralization and local councils.
