Bahrain, Iran for boosting bilateral relations

Bahraini Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman al-Khalifa met on Tuesday with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi and members of the accompanying delegation, currently on a two-day official visit to the state of Bahrain.

The Gulf News Agency said the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the regional and international arenas and issues of mutual concern.

Sheikh Khalifa also expressed pride over convening the first meeting of the Bahrain -Iran joint political committee in the state of Bahrain.

Meanwhile, Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad Bin Mubarak al-Khalifa met with the his Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharazi.

The meeting dealt with bilateral issues of concern to the two countries besides regional and international issues, foremost being the situation in the Gulf region. Stress was laid on the importance of preserving its security and stability.

Sheikh Muhammad stressed that this meeting stressed the joint desire of the two countries to improve their relations and their desire to maintain closer joint cooperation for the benefits of the two peoples and in the service of their joint interests.

The Iranian foreign minister arrived in Bahrain earlier in the day.
