Exporting first Egyptian potato shipment to Hong Kong

It was decided to export Egyptian potatoes-- a 30-ton shipment-- to Hong Kong's markets. This is considered the first shipment to arriving in these new markets to break the intensity of the European conditions imposed on exports of Egyptian potatoes to the European Union.
Khaled Abu Ismail, deputy chairman of the Egyptian trade chambers union told ArabicNews.com that this small shipment is considered an attempt to break the European embargo on the Egyptian agricultural products, adding that the shipping operations will begin tomorrow from Alexandria harbor and that 69,000 tons were exported to Europe during the current season.
He said that amount is expected to reach 80,000 tons by the end of April and is expected to reach 120,000 tons by the end of the current year.
