French minister of industry to visit Libya next month
Libya-France, Politics, 3/28/2000

ArabicNews.com learned from Libyan diplomatic sources that French Minister of Industry Christian Sautter will visit Tripoli on April 9 - 11, the first visit by a French minister to Libya in 10 years.

In case of achieving this visit, it would be considered a positive indication of improvement in French - Libyan relations and on the two parties' desire to restore the special relations between them to what they used to be.

The relation between the two sides has been negatively impacted by the air embargo and the international sanctions on Tripoli and tensions in French - Libyan relations since 1989, when Paris accused Tripoli of exploding a French airplane above the Niger desert.

More than 10 French companies will participate in the international fair that will be held in Tripoli on April 5 - 20.
