Jordanian King to meet with political parties on reform
Jordan, Politics, 3/27/2000
Jordanian political circles said the Jordanian King Abdullah II will shortly meet with the secretaries general of the political parties in Jordan with all their political trends.
The meeting will be in the framework of the King's meetings with the civil society establishments with the aim of making consultations on general conditions in the country and means of achieving political reforms, demanded by various establishments in Jordan.
While Jordanian Minister of the Interior Nayef Saud al-Qadi announced that he had informed the secretaries general of several parties of an upcoming meeting with King Abdullah, the opposition parties denied having had been invited to a meeting as such.
These opposition parties, on the other hand, stated they are careful to hold a special meeting relating to the opposition parties with the Jordanian king, a matter which makes it possible that the king will meet with the leaders of parties supportive of his government and leaders of the opposition parties separately, and this will be in contrast to what happened last year, when the two sides met together with the king.
