Al-Assad - Clinton summit in Geneva tomorrow
Syria-USA, Politics, 3/25/2000
Syrian President Hafez al-Assad and US President Bill Clinton are to convene tomorrow in Geneva, trying to overcome the obstacles impeding achieving progress on the Syrian - Israeli track.
Syrian sources told ArabicNews.com today that, "There are big disputes on the Syrian and the Israeli track" that the summit cannot avoid, saying that this requires US pressure on Israel and that Syria has no problem in achieving a progress in the peace process.
The sources said it is out of Syria's hands, because Israel can declare that it is accepting the withdrawal from the Syrian lands occupied in 1967, after which all obstacles will be removed, else laying hopes on the al-Assad - Clinton summit will disappear.
