Morocco calls for a Davos-like Arab forum
Morocco-Regional, Economics, 3/24/2000
Morocco has called for a Davos-like Arab forum, that would group political and business leaders of several countries.
Moroccan minister in charge of the government's general affairs, Ahmed Lahlimi, who represented Premier Youssoufi in the third Mediterranean Forum held recently in Cairo, said the Arab states need an Arab forum similar to that of Davos.
Such a forum should bring together heads of Arab governments, political parties and enterprises to debate and defend Arab interests, Lahlimi told Al-Ahram Weekly.
The forum will also unify Arab orientations and make Arabs benefit from their region's potentials, he said.
The third Mediterranean Forum debated issues related to development in the region.
