Canadian prime minister to visit Middle East

Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien will make a tour of the Middle East countries in the middle of next month that is to include Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine to discuss causes of joint concern.
A statement issued by the Canadian embassy in Cairo said that Chretien would discuss supporting the peace process, increasing the volume of Canadian investment in the area and supporting the existing projects.
Chretien will meet with heads of the business organizations in the area to support the role of the private sector in participating in activities of the development plans in the area.
