Ethiopia, Eritrea hold indirect negotiations in Algeria, Saturday

Eritrea has called on the Organization of African Unity to declare officially that the technical arrangements stated in its plan to settle the Ethiopian- Eritrean border conflict, proposed as arrangements that cannot be amended "are now discussed by the two sides of conflict," as the government of Ethiopia refused the original document in this regard.
In a statement released following the meeting of its Cabinet on Tuesday to discuss the conflict, the government of Eritrea said it agrees, in principal, on indirect negotiations between the two sides, but asserted that the success of these negotiations needs "clarification of issues which will be negotiated in anticipation."
A reliable source at the Organization of the African Unity said that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the current President of the OAU's current session, called on both Ethiopia and Eritrea to come to Algeria to hold talks pertaining to reconsidering technical arrangements.
The source stated that the two sides of conflict will attend these meetings which will start tomorrow on the level of the two countries' foreign ministers. The talks will be joined by the organization's secretary general, Salem Ahmad Salem, and his special assistant for political affairs, Said Janit.
Ethiopia's prime minister had accused certain sides for the failure of the African work plan and obstructing finding out a peaceful and durable solution to the crisis.
