Sit-in for hundreds of UNRWA workers
Jordan-Palestine, Politics, 3/23/2000
Hundreds of workers in the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for rescuing and employing the Palestinian refugees in Jordan stayed on strike yesterday before the agency's headquarters in Amman to protest its internal policy.
Some strikers stated that aim of this sit-in is to protest the recent decision of UNRWA's chairmanship to raising salaries of only 30 persons among the high-ranking employees by 15% - 45% while the officials state that the agency's budget has suffered a continuous shortage for years.
