Tripartite Summit in Cairo
Sudan-Regional, Politics, 3/23/2000

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael said that Cairo will make arrangements to convene a meeting bringing together Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi on the sideline of the meetings of the Euro-African summit.

He denied strongly any intention to hold a meeting between al-Bashir and any of the leadership of the opposition coalition.

Ismael also announced the postponement of the meetings of the joint ministerial committee between Egypt and Sudan to another date to be set in coordination between the two states' Foreign Ministries.

He added that this postponement was due to a request made by the new Egyptian ambassador, Muhammad Asem Ibrahim, to postpone the meetings of the joint technical committee which was scheduled to be held at the end of this month in Khartoum.
