Kuwait for convening pan-Arab summit

Kuwait's first deputy premier and foreign minister, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, said on Wednesday that Kuwait does not oppose the convening of an Arab summit at present or in the future.
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyasah published on Wednesday, Sheikh Sabah stated: "I would like to say and repeat that Kuwait does not oppose the convening of any Arab summit." He described the recent Kuwaiti moves on the Arab level as tremendous and important, especially during the recent meeting of the Arab foreign ministers held in Lebanon and the role played by Kuwait in backing the just Arab causes.
In a similar statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am Sheikh Sabah stressed that Kuwait does not stand against convening the Arab summit, "but hopes to have requirements for the success of such a summit ensured."
He indicated that the message he expects to receive next week from Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh will deal with the efforts made by Sanaa to convey an Arab summit. He stressed that Kuwait is in favor of convening any Arab summit at any time, decided by the Arab states, members of the Arab League.
