Human rights international federation to hold congress in Morocco
Morocco-International, Politics, 3/23/2000
The human rights international federation decided to hold its 34th world congress in Morocco in recognition of the country's human rights progress.
The important strides covered by Morocco to promote human rights prompted the NGO's officials to take such decision, said the executive director of the federation, Antoine Bernard, who was participating in the 56th session of the human rights commission.
He added that the visit paid, two months ago, by the federation to Morocco, allowed them to meet Moroccan government officials on human rights issue and to closely follow the efforts made in this respect.
Bernard, who met the Moroccan Human rights minister, Mohamed Aujjar, who is taking part in the 56th session of human rights commission, praised Morocco's stand in favor of protection of human rights defenders all over the world, its move to adopt a law on freedom of association, and its readiness to participate in the drawing up of a draft resolution on the protection of human rights defenders.
