Bassiuni emphasizes importance of peace negotiations in Washington

Mohammed Bassiuni, the Egyptian ambassador to Israel, stated that the round of negotiations that started between the Palestinians and Israelis in Washington aims at achieving two goals.
The first is to attempt to reach a framework agreement concerning the main subjects in the final status talks which are status of Jerusalem, the settlements, the refugees, water and borders.
The second aim is to attempt to reach an agreement concerning implementing the third stage of redeployment stated in the transitory agreements, emphasizing the existence of complete coordination between the Palestinians and Egyptians, as Egypt is considered a partner in the peace process.
