Al-Hoss describes issue of detainees and captives as the great national cause
Lebanon, Politics, 3/22/2000
Lebanese Prime Minister Selim al-Hoss depicted the issues of the Lebanese detainees and captives in the prisons of the Israeli occupation as the greatest national cause, in addition to being a humanitarian issue that concerns the whole international community.
Al-Hoss said during his meeting yesterday with a delegation from the Follow-up Committee for the Support of Lebanese Detainees in the Israeli Prisons that his government is making international communications concerning this matter, in addition to tackling this subject with the US, the International Red Cross and the international human rights committee to find a solution for this humanitarian issue.
The follow-up committee previously organized a public sit-in before UN headquarters in Beirut to urge the UN and the humanitarian organizations as well as the defense committees for international human rights to work to release the Lebanese captives and detainees in the occupation prisons.
