Italian businessmen in Morocco
Morocco-Italy, Business, 3/22/2000

An Italian business delegation is currently visiting Morocco to explore with Moroccan peers partnership opportunities.

The delegation represents small and medium enterprises from the region of Marches operating in the sectors of wood, agricultural machinery, fishing gear, electronics, ready-to-wear, mechanics and chemistry.

The mission is sponsored by the Italian foreign trade institute in Casablanca.

A delegation of Moroccan private operators will make a trip to Italy in the course of the second half of the current year.

Italy is Morocco's 3rd trade partner in Europe, behind France and Spain. In 1998, Moroccan imports from Italy totaled $ 558 mln, accounting for 6.3% of Morocco's total imports while exports reached $ 235 mln, 5.2% of Moroccan exports.

Moroccan exports to Italy are made up mainly of fertilizers, fresh fish and garments, while imports are made up mostly of cars, machinery and various industrial tools.
