One SLA member killed in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 3/22/2000

The Lebanese resistance on Tuesday killed a pro- Israeli militiaman in his house in south Lebanon, according to Lebanese security sources.

Sources from the pro-Israel South Lebanon Army militia confirmed the killing of Hussein Shahla from Markaba as the resistance attacked his house in the western sector of the occupied part of south Lebanon, killing him. Members of his family were left unhurt.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces escalated their aggressions against populated villages and towns in south Lebanon in air raids and artillery bombardment that resulted in inflicting heavy losses on houses and properties.

The Lebanese resistance retaliated with a series of attacks in which direct hits were scored against Israeli and SLA positions.

Lebanese security sources said the Israeli warplanes raided the al-Tasse river course in al-Tuffah district, and the Israeli planes carried out five raids against Hafour, Darya, Jabal Abu Rashid and al-Qatrani in a mopping-up operation, using machine guns.

The Israeli artillery bombarded al-Qeseyeh, al-Salawqi and al-Hajir valleys and the towns of Majdal Soloum, Qubreiha and al-Sawannah. And this attack resulted in wounding Lebanese shepherd Ahmad Sultan and killing many of his cattle.

Similar Israeli artillery bombardments were carried out against the heights of al-Sarira, al-Qatrani, Burket al-Jabbour in the western Bekaa, while the towns of Hadatha, Eita al-Jabal, Beit Yahoun, Meiremin, Teir Harfa and Majdal Zoune were bombarded and heavy losses were inflicted.
