418 million German marks in donations and loans to Egypt

The Egyptian government received 418 million marks as donations and loans to Egypt during last year.
A statement issued by the German embassy in Cairo said this is considered the largest sum of German aid to Egypt since commencing German aid at the beginning of the 1960s and that it exceeds twice as much as it was in 1998.
This aid contributed to numerous projects that aim at the proper exploitation of natural resources and supporting German investments in Egypt, as its volume reached 242 million marks, while the volume of joint trade in the 1990s reached 4 billion marks last year, including half a billion marks in Egyptian exports and the rest in German exports to Egypt.
