Arab League chief confers with French new ambassador in Cairo

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid on Monday received the new French ambassador to Egypt.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed conditions in the region and issues of mutual concern, foremost being the Middle East peace process, the efforts exerted to resume negotiations on the Palestinian and Syrian tracks and the situation in Lebanon.
The Arab League chief briefed the French ambassador with the recent decisions taken by the Arab League council concerning pan-Arab solidarity with Lebanon and the need of returning back to the April understanding provisions.
The two sides discussed several issues of mutual concern including Arab-French relations and means of developing them in various fields and Arab-European relations.
