Morocco ranks fifth in cross-country world championships
Morocco, Sports, 3/20/2000
Morocco ranked fifth in the cross-country world championships held over the weekend in Vilamoura, Portugal, with outstanding performances by Zahra Ouaziz and Moroccan-born Belgian Mohamed Mourhit.
Moroccan ace-racer Ouaziz was a split-second from gold and almost clocked the same time as the Ethiopian winner while the men's team gleaned bronze.
In men's single, the Moroccan-born Mourhit put an end to the domination of Kenyan runners and stole gold covering the distance of 12.300 km in 35 minutes.
