European Parliament delegation in Morocco
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 3/20/2000

A delegation from the European parliament is currently visiting Morocco to assess various aspects of cooperation between the kingdom and the European Union.

The delegation-- representing the group in charge of relations with the Arab Maghreb at the European Parliament-- will also get informed about the steps covered by Morocco in the political and economic realms, head of the delegation, Raimon Obiols Germa, told reporters upon arrival Sunday.

He said Morocco, thanks to its strategic location and large potentialities, can play a vanguard role in promoting Euro-Mediterranean partnership.

Speaker of the European Parliament Nicole Fontaine paid a visit to Morocco last February and had then expressed hope for a more ambitious development of relations between Morocco and the European Union.
