Acts of violence continue in Algeria

The Algerian dailies on Sunday said the security forces killed eight gunmen in a chase in Ghardaia area, situated 500 km south of Algiers.

The sources said that other three gunmen were killed in Jijel district, 300 km east of Algiers, while another five gunmen were killed in the neighboring Kharata area.

Le Matin daily said that one gunmen who had surrendered to authorities was assassinated at the hands of his former friends in Burj Manayel in al-Qabeyel area, 70 km east of Algiers.

The paper added that eight persons were killed and three wounded on Wednesday and Thursday in Algeria in attacks carried out by the gunmen.

The papers indicated that 430 persons have been killed in Algeria including more than 100 gunmen since the termination of implementation of the civil concord law on January 13.
