Egyptian human rights organization welcomes release of Islamic detainees

The Egyptian human rights organization hailed the decision of the interior ministry to release 840 detainees belonging to different groups that advocate violence as a means for change such as the Islamic Group, Jihad and Tawakof and Tabaion as well as Fath Pioneers.

A joint statement issued by five Egyptian organizations that work in this field which are the Egyptian organization for human rights, the Arab program for human right activists, the Arab center for judiciary and legal profession independence, the human right center for helping prisoners and democracy development group - said that this step - by the Egyptian authorities deserves praise.

The statement urged the Egyptian government to cancel working under the emergency law currently in effect in addition to the immediate release of all detainees regardless the political and ideological beliefs.
