Lebanese efforts to implement Arab FM s decisions on Lebanon
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 3/16/2000

Lebanese Premier and Foreign Minister Salim al-Hoss has asked Omani Foreign Minister Youssef Bin Alawi, in his capacity as chairman of the current course of the Arab League, to make immediate contacts with the Arab states and to brief them on the Israeli aggression against Lebanon to take necessary measures in implementation of the decisions adopted by the Arab foreign ministers in their recent meeting held in Beirut.

In a telephone conversation he made on Wednesday, al-Hoss called on Bin Alawi to contact the big powers in order to pressure Israel into halting its aggressions against Lebanon.

In a similar telephone call with Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid, al-Hoss expressed his thanks for the position announced on Tuesday by the AL in condemning the Israeli aggressions.

Al-Hoss also called on the AL chief to intensify contacts with Arab and foreign states to prevent further Israeli aggressions.

Moreover, al-Hoss on Wednesday contacted the French ambassador to Lebanon. Al-Hoss told the ambassador to convey Lebanon's desire to France to halt the Israeli aggression, noting the risks that will result from leaving Israel attacking Lebanon and thereby undermining the international community and all humanitarian values.
