Moroccan MP calls Denmark to reopen embassy in Morocco
Morocco-Denmark, Politics, 3/15/2000

A member of the Moroccan chamber of representatives (lower house of parliament), on Tuesday called on Denmark to reopen its embassy in Morocco.

Denmark closed its embassy in Morocco last February and opted for a North African diplomatic representation in Algeria.

Brahim Rachidi, sixth vice-speaker of the house of representatives, who was meeting in Rabat with Danish Deputy Foreign Minister Friis A. Peterson, also called for the consolidation of cooperation between Morocco and the Scandinavian country.

Peterson said Copenhagen closed its embassy in Morocco "for purely economic reasons."
