A sit in observed in Damascus in solidarity of detainees at Israeli jails

Representatives of the solidarity committee with the Syrian detainees and prisoners and the relatives of the prisoners on Tuesday observed a sit-in at the premises of the International Committee of the Red Cross in solidarity with the Syrian prisoners and detainees in the Israeli jails.

The participants in the sit-in handed over a statement and an appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross in which they indicated the deterioration of health and psychological conditions of the Syrian prisoners in the Israeli jails as a result of the psychological and physical torture they undergo from the Israeli occupation forces.

They called on the International Committee of the Red Cross, the humanitarian and human rights organizations as well as world public opinion to intervene in order to permit the medical committee to visit the prisoners, especially the sick.

The called for the halt of the suffering and torture of those prisoners who have been jailed for years.

They indicated that there are five prisoners whose lives are in danger. They are: Seif al-Naser al-Wadi; Bisher and Sidqi Suleiman al-Magot, Hayel Hussein Abu Zeid, Asem Mahmoud al-Wali. These prisoners have spent more than 15 years in the Israeli jails.
