Congo's Kabila gets message from King Mohammed VI
Morocco-Congo, Politics, 3/14/2000

President Laurent Desire Kabila of the Democratic Republic of the Congo received Friday a message from King Mohammed VI.

The royal message was handed to Kabila by Moroccan Fisheries Minister Thami Khayari.

Kabila voiced on the occasion backing for Omar Kabbaj, Morocco's candidate for a second term as head of the African Development Bank.

Kabila added that he will dispatch his foreign affairs and international cooperation minister to Morocco with a message to King Mohammed VI.

Khyari had previously visited Congo Brazaville, where he handed a similar royal message to President Sassou Nguesso, who also expressed backing for the Moroccan candidate.

Khyari and Nguesso also examined the possible opening of a Moroccan embassy in Brazaville to consolidate bilateral ties.
