A call for a united Arab strategy to produce weapons

The chairman of the higher commission for weapons manufacturing in Egypt, Lt. Gen. Salah Halabi, has called for drawing up an Arab strategy to manufacture weapons through investing the potentials of the Egyptian arms industry. He said, "We have to have an Arab tank, an Arab armored vehicle, an Arab antitank missile and surface-to-surface Arab missiles."
Halabi proposed maintaining cooperation among a group of Arab states which have military manufacturing possibilities to have one joint product like a plane or a tank. He added that this can be made by producing the components and parts in more than one country.
He indicated that the Arab region can be a market for Arab military products instead of importing from foreign markets.
