Liberia's president gets message from Morocco's king
Morocco-Liberia, Politics, 3/13/2000

President Charles Taylor of Liberia last week got a message from King Mohammed VI.

The message was conveyed by minister in charge of water and forests, Said Chbaatou, at a meeting that discussed bilateral relations, which are based on coordination and consultation, and on regional issues with a special emphasis on Africa's economic and social development.

President Taylor hailed efforts made by King Mohammed VI to enhance African integration and consolidate inter-African relations, following in this respect the path drawn by his father, the late King Hassan II.

The Moroccan envoy voiced appreciation for Liberia's stand regarding Morocco's territorial integrity and renewed the kingdom's resolve to upgrade cooperation with Monrovia in all sectors.

Chbaatou had earlier visited Guinea, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso where he delivered royal messages to these countries' presidents.

Several other Moroccan envoys are still touring a number of African countries to deliver to their leaders messages from King Mohammed VI.

The messages deal with bilateral cooperation and ways to enhance inter-African cooperation.

The Moroccan envoys' talks with their various African interlocutors covered the candidacy of Moroccan Omar Kabbaj to a second term at the head of the African Development Bank (ADB), and the upcoming Euro-African summit, scheduled in Cairo next April 3-4.
