Jordanian work bureaus in the Gulf states
Jordan, Economics, 3/13/2000
The Jordanian Ministry of Labor said that the Jordanian labor force has started to get into the Gulf markets in notable and increasing numbers through the Jordanian labor marketing bureaus.
Jordanian Minister of Labor Eid al-Fayez said that work in these bureaus has been organized through the issuance of a special system that can organize the relations between the offices for marketing Jordanian workers to the Gulf states, the Jordanian workers and the business owner.
Al-Fayez added that his ministry has licensed five labor marketing offices and that it is encouraging opening such bureaus which would contribute to limiting unemployment among the youth which reaches 14% in Jordan, denying rates of unemployment declared by unofficial sides at 27%. Some 200,000 Jordanians are working in the Arab Gulf states.
