Afghan factions hold reconciliation meetings in Riyadh

The second phase of negotiations between the delegation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference and each of the Afghan Taleban movement and the delegation of the Afghan opposition front will be resumed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after the vacation of Eid al-Adha.
The Saudi daily Okaz issued on Friday said that the sides concerned agreed on Thursday to resume the negotiations between the OIC and the two Afghani sides at the conclusion of separate meetings at the premises of the OIC since last Tuesday.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry's secretary, Jawad Zarif, who is the representative of the 8th Islamic summit, said in a statement to the same paper that the fact negotiations between the OIC and the two Afghani factions are continuing after Eid al-Adha means that there is a real desire in the two Afghani sides to find out a peaceful solutions to the Afghani crisis.
For his part the representative of the UN secretary general and his personal envoy, Fransesco Fedirel, said to the same paper that whatever obstacles and differences in view points might be great, they can be settled through continued dialogue, noting that the UN backs comprehensively the efforts of the OIC.
