Arab League to discuss financial crisis in May

ArabicNews.com learned that the committee for the financial and administrative affairs of the Arab League will convene in May in Cairo to revise the level of the Arab states' commitment to paying their shares of financial dues and the normal origins of the annual budget of the AL and that the United Arab Emirates paid its full share, which is $1.7 million-- accounting for 6% of the AL's budget.
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait each pay 14% of the AL's budget ($3.8 million), while Egypt pays 8% of the budget, $2.4 million.
Iraq's share is 10%, yet it has not paid since 1989, while Libya pays 12%.
The rest of the Arab states' shares vary between 1 to 1.5% of the total dues which amounts to 27 million U.S dollars.
