Mauritanian minister of the interior in Algeria
Algeria-Mauritania, Politics, 3/10/2000

The four-member meeting of the desert's coastal states started on Thursday with the participation of each of Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, and Niger in order to discuss several issues concerning security on the borders.

On Wednesday, the Mauritania's minister of the interior and communications, Dahould Abdel Jelil, arrived in Algiers.

Well-informed sources in Algiers said that the attendance of the Mauritanian minister of the interior, who had boycotted the works of the council of Arab ministers of the Interior which was held in Algiers at the end of February indicates the possibility of the end of tension between the two states.
