King Abdallah of Jordan Arrives in Morocco

King Abdallah II of Jordan arrived in Rabat this Thursday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of King Mohammed VI.
The Jordanian king, who is accompanied by Jordan's First Lady Queen Rania, was greeted upon arrival by King Mohammed VI, his brother Prince Moulay Rachid, and his sister Princess Lalla Meriem.
A red carpet welcome was granted to the Hachemite King at the Bab Rouah square, where the Rabat population acclaimed the Royal party with flowers.
King Abdallah's visit to Morocco marks a turning point in the consolidation of the privileged cooperation ties that have always bound the two Arab states.
King Mohammed VI and King Abdallah will confer on means to upgrade bilateral relations and to boost Arab joint action.
Morocco and Jordan agreed in 1998 to set up a high joint commission and concluded several cooperation accords.
Morocco's imports from Jordan were worth $ 5 million in 1998 against $ 3 million a year before, while exports stood at $ 4.2 million the same year against 5.3 in 1997.
